COGITO Project

The goal of the project is the creation of Cognitive Buildings that use IoT, big data, and machine learning to learn and improve the living and working conditions of their occupants. The COGITO software platform, based on software agents and edge computing, has been developed for the creation of cognitive buildings. Innovative techniques based on IoT and AI have been studied for applications regarding comfort, safety, and energy saving. The platform has been validated with important demonstrators realized, among others, at the ICAR-CNR headquarters and Matera.

The project involved various academic partners (UNICAL, UNIBAS, UNIRC), research institutions (ICAR-CNR, ENEA, SI-Lab), and corporate partners (TIM, SITE, SMARTS, SCAI Lab, Digimat, DS TECH, OMNIA Energia).

COGITO saw me as coordinator of the ICAR-CNR unit of activities relating to OR3 – Efficient management of the use of the internal and external environments of the building.

I also contributed positively to the design and development of the Cogito platform, to the design and development of cognitive applications relating to comfort, energy saving, and safety, and to the design and implementation of project demonstrators at the ICAR-CNR and ATERP headquarters.
