Andrea Vinci, Ph.D., has been a Senior Researcher since January 2023 at ICAR-CNR, where he has worked in various positions since September 2012. He earned a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Calabria (Italy), where he also earned a Master\u2019s degree in Computer Engineering (summa cum laude). His research work mainly focuses on Edge Intelligence, Cognitive Environments, the Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Quantum Computing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In these areas, he has published more than 70 papers in international conferences, proceedings, and journals, contributing to: the definitions of platforms and methodologies for the design and implementation of cyber-physical systems; the design of distributed algorithms for the efficient control of urban infrastructure such as drainage networks, based on swarm intelligence and peer-to-peer techniques; analysis and forecasting of Smart Cities data; and Artificial Intelligence techniques for Smart and Cognitive Environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interest in Quantum Computing is currently focused on Variational Quantum Algorithms, particularly the design of problem-specific ansatze for solving edge-related optimization problems, and quantum error mitigation, with novel contributions published in significant IEEE journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrea Vinci has held the role of scientific technical evaluator for MISE projects since 2019. He has participated in research projects, such as iAmica, ResNovae, Domus, and Cogito, where he carried out both scientific and coordination activities. Among the various results, he has contributed to the design, development, and deployment of the demo Smart Street Cosenza, which is a prototype of pervasive ICT infrastructure for Smart City Services built in Cosenza, Italy. He contributes to the design and development of the social and pervasive, agent-based platform called iSapiens, which constitutes the main block of the Domus research project. Within the Cogito project, he contributed to the design and development of the homonymous framework, tailored for the creation of Edge-based Cognitive IoT Environments. He is currently associated investigator and unit leader of the PRIN 2022 INSIDER project, and unit WP leader of the SoBigData.it project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
