He is a Researcher with the ICAR-CNR, Institute of High Performance Computing and Networking of the Italian National Research Council, in Cosenza, Italy. He lectures Computer Networks at the University of Calabria in Cosenza, Italy.

He was guest editor for special issues on Future Generation Computer Systems, Elsevier (vol. 24/3, 2008), Multiagent and Grid Systems, IOS Press (vol 5/2, 2009), and Journal of Network and Computing Applications, Elsevier (vol. 32/5, 2009). He serves in the editorial board of the Journal of Network and Computing Applications, JNCA, Elsevier.

He co-organized the first four editions of the Upgrade-CN workshop at the IEEE/ACM HPDC Symposium, from 2006 to 2009, and the first two editions of the workshop on Bio-Inspired Algorithms for Distributed Systems, BADS, at the IEEE/ACM ICAC Conference, in 2009 and 2010.

He is the ICAR-CNR coordinator for the European CoreGRID ERCIM Network of Excellence.
He is a member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.

His research interests include: distributed systems, grid and cloud computing, peer-to-peer networks, bio-inspired algorithms and protocols, multicast protocols, content distribution networks.
