I am a Director of Research at the ICAR-CNR, Institute of High Performance Computing and Networking of the Italian National Research Council, in Cosenza, Italy.

I lecture Information Systems at the University of Calabria in Cosenza, Italy.

Research interests:

  • parallel and distributed computing systems;

  • Internet of Things solutions and technologies;

  • Smart Cities and Smart Buildings;

  • Cloud Computing and data centers;

  • bio-inspired algorithms and protocols;

  • peer-to-peer networks and systems;

  • Quantum Computing and Quantum Machine Learning.

Application domains:

  • data centers: improve efficiency and reduce cost and energy consumption;

  • smart cities: computation of user mobility patterns, optimization of transport systems;

  • smart buildings: improve user comfort and reduce energy consumption;

  • energy management and power grids: optimize energy sharing and minimize user costs in prosumer communities.

I co-organized the first four editions of the Upgrade-CN workshop at the IEEE/ACM HPDC Symposium, from 2006 to 2009, and the first two editions of the workshop on Bio-Inspired Algorithms for Distributed Systems, BADS, at the IEEE/ACM ICAC Conference, in 2009 and 2010.
